Bath, Avebury, Liverpool....

Our lovely room

Georgian Townhouses - just up the hill from where we were staying...

Okay, continuing on with the British odyssey and lovely Georgian Bath...a Unesco World Heritage site I believe...we stayed at the wonderful Marlborough House where Peter and his staff were so welcoming and helpful...Peter even drew a suggested walking tour for us...

Yes, okay, I am literally a tree hugger - couldn't resist this giant a t  a "circus"
We encountered some Morris dancers outside a vegetarian pub!
The fascinating Roman Baths...
Contemplating the Romans and their marvellous engineering...

A view at the river...

It's kind a veg institution and justifiably so...there is even a cooking school attached...

We had a lovely dinner at Demuth's - cauliflower and potato croquettes in a delicious cream sauce...bokchoy and turnip in the appetizer and a lovely salad with some kind of crunch seed and buckwheat topping that was addictive..it tasted like popcorn.  That was the last of the sunny days for a little while - the next day was pouring rain...the tail end of a hurrican which had come up from the Azores...they received their monthly rainfall for England in 24 hours!! Good thing it was a driving day...next stop Avebury and the Stone Circle...

Thanks to Rick Steves advice - much more accessible and less crowded than Stonehenge...and of course the ever present sheep...we chatted with a guide while having a warming Earl Grey tea in the National Trust cafe..their cafes and gift shops are really great.

The circles are mysterious and impressive...was it a place for ceremony or worship or was it a taboo area? Time to end speculation and continue on to Blenheim Castle and the Cotswolds...where we stayed in Moreton in Marsh the Redesdale Arms - we had a nice room - booking through lakebooking.com again and a nice meal - they were very accommodating for us vegans...

Blenheim Palace

A re-creation of "The Cavern" at the Beatles Experience

The Docks in Liverpool

Our meal at "The Egg"

After a fruitless search in a soggy Stratford on Avon we bailed and continued on to Liverpool...we did miss the bus tour but checked out the Beatles Experience museum which is pretty cool and drove my John Lennon's house..plus had dinner at "The Egg" a funky veg place...

Next stop Blackpool...
